PYRAX (demo stage)
My first project!
A demo for a platformer game designed for the Gameboy and developed in the GB Studio engine.
It's a bit rough, but I'm really happy to have something playable to share. I'll be putting this aside for now, but hopefully I'll come back to it at some point and refine/expand into more stages.
Art, animation, music and programming by me. I used assets by Yogi (Tronimal) for sound fx (thanks heaps they are great!). The little shrubs in the background are also taken from an asset pack and altered to suit my game. I have lost this pack and can't find it again! If anyone recognises their work here, please let me know so I can credit.
STORY
You play as Pyrax, a forest Pyromancer whose home has been overrun with evil fungi. It's up to you to cleanse the forest and restore order!
HOW TO PLAY
The goal of the stage is to eliminate all the fungi enemies. To do this, you must collect enough fire melons to charge up your Pyro powers. While collecting fire melons you are defenceless against the fungi, so you must avoid them. Once you collect enough fire melons (as indicated on your HUD) you will transform into Pyromancer mode and you can then clear the stage of enemies by shooting them with your fireballs. Your Pyro powers will only last for so long, so be quick! if you run out of time it will be game over.
HINT: While collecting the fire melons, take note of enemy placement and consider what might be the most efficient route to take when eliminating the fungi once you're powered up.
